Cities

The CFCB programme’s focus on cities is grounded in the fact that cities are continuously growing and as they do, GHG emissions will rise along with the spur in in-migration and affluence. Cities are engines of economic growth and contribute significantly to a country’s GDP. Carbon finance is one of the few tools available to cities that are able to aid with both sustainable development policies while generating an income for the city.

Currently, the CFCB program works in four pilot projects cities:

• Dar Es Salam, Tanzania
• Jakarta, Indonesa
• Quezon City, Philippines
• São Paulo, Brazil
